For the past two years, FBC has sponsored a shelter for homeless women as part of the Greensboro Urban Ministry winter emergency (WE!) shelters network.  Over 100 volunteers have participated in this important ministry of our church, helping more than 50 women.

This year, FBC will be partnering with the YWCA and 4 other churches to provide an expanded ministry - serving 25 women each night.  The shelter will meet in the location formerly housing the YWCA, behind the public library in downtown Greensboro.  Secure parking will be provided beside the building.  The shelter will open each evening at 6 pm and close the following day at 7 am.

Many volunteers are needed to serve at the shelter, donate supplies, provide meals and PRAY for all involved.  Click the buttons below to learn more about each responsibility.

Volunteer or Donate Online:
You can volunteer for different hands-on opportunities or donate needed items for the winter shelter or both.  We use the online program SignUpGenius for all volunteer signups for the shelter ministry.  The first time you volunteer you will need to become a SignUpGenius member.  Simply fill out the online form and sign up. It's that simple! You will only need to complete the member form once.  Click one of the links below (Shelter Volunteer, Shelter Dinner, or Shelter Donations) to go to the SignUpGenius web page to see how you can be a part of our shelter ministry. 

1. Choose your day/opportunity to serve and click "sign up." 
2. The next screen will show you what you have signed up for and the date. 
3. If you are a first-time user and have not created your login/password, you will need to follow the steps to sign up.  You only do this one time so please use a password you can remember.
4. If you are a SignUpGenius member, simply click the button, "I'm a SignUpGenius Member." 
5. Once you have signed up for an opportunity you can now manage that opportunity with three options to "edit, swap, or delete" the occurrence.  You manage when you volunteer! 
6. An added feature of our on-line sign up is a reminder email will be sent to you two days prior to serving. 
   Note: Individual emails will be sent for each volunteer opportunity.  Multiple volunteer sign ups cannot be grouped into one email.
