The YWCA WE Shelter at Summit House has closed for the 2012-2013 season. We greatly appreciate every volunteer who worked at the shelter, provided food or breakfast bags, donated supplies, and/or supported the shelter in any other way! We served 69 women between December 1, 2012 and March 31, 2013. Many of the participants were able to find housing and/or jobs during the time they stayed at the shelter.
2012-2013 Information
FBC partnered with Greensboro Urban Ministry, the YWCA, and several other congregations to sponsor a Winter Emergency Shelter for homeless women in our community. This was our fourth year to support this ministry. The YWCA WE Shelter at Summit House served up to 25 women each night and was located off Yanceyville Street north of Cornwallis. The shelter was open from 6:00 pm until 7:00 am each night. Secure parking was available beside the building.
