New to First Baptist

The First Baptist Church Visitor center is located in the Atrium, located in the covered drive entrance just off the main parking lot.  This is the best place to begin your visit of First Baptist.  On Sunday mornings you will find greeters to help guide you, and also information about the church.

Sunday Guest Reception

Every Sunday following the 10:30 am Worship we invite guests to a reception with staff members to enjoy a casual time to meet and get to know you.  Please come to Room 209/Parlor which is located directly behind the Sanctuary when exiting the doors to the front left of the sanctuary.

Finding FBC

First Baptist is located near downtown Greensboro and two area colleges, Greensboro College and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  Our location is right near the "heart of the city" and this gives us an opportunity to shine our light to the many who work, study, volunteer, play, and visit downtown Greensboro.  There are lots of good things happening in Greensboro and at First Baptist.  Come and see!

A great way to find out what FBC is all about is our Explore 1st class.  You will learn ...  some FBC history, our Baptist beliefs, meet staff, and meet others interested in learning about the church.  This is for visitors, non-members who are actively participating in the life of FBC, and new members wanting to learn more about our community of faith.

Dr. Steve Pressley, Associate Pastor, and Dr. Steve Sumerel, Associate Pastor of Adult Learning, will co-facilitate Explore 1st.  The class meets for  four weeks and when finished you will have the opportunity to move into a Sunday School and to become members of the church.

Questions: contact Monica Hix in the Pastor's Office: email or 274-3286, x231.

Bible Study/Sunday School Options

Bible study is every Sunday morning, 9:15-10:15 am.  These classes are available for all ages from children to youth to young adults to seniors.  You can find the class that is perfect for you - singles, couples, intergenerational, Happy Hearts, service, and more.

Adults:  There are many small group Bible study classes to visit so you choose the one that best suits you.  For adults the classes are based on the standard age division, as well as classes that are intergenerational, just for women, for single adults, for the dramatic, and those based on a specific topic.

Youth:  We have a Middle School and High School department.  Within each group they are divided by grade.  They meet as a class and sometimes as a large group.  There are special occasions when the entire youth group meets together.

Children: Preschoolers age 4 to Grade 1 are in classes in the lower level of our Children's wing and children in grade 2-5 are in the upstairs level of the Children's wing.  Children are divided by age/grade and must be signed in and out of class by their parent or responsible adult.
For Worship: Preschoolers (age 4-5) participate in worship initially but just before the sermon they are dismissed for Children's Education to experience age-appropriate learning.  Children in grades 1-5 participate and stay for the entire worship hour.

Nursery/Preschool: Children from infant to 3 years are in the lower level of the Children's wing and will remain in their class during the Sunday School and Worship time.  Beepers are provided in case of emergency for parents and the Children's wing is locked down for security during the worship hour.
