You may be in a place you never meant to be, but now that you are here . . . it is the aim of the Divorce Recovery Program to stand alongside you as you set out on a new journey. We invite you to believe that you can grow through divorce as you go through your divorce.
Divorce recovery draws from biblical principles of compassion. These principles from the foundation of support for those who are going through the pain and trauma of divorce. You will find caring people who will walk beside you through one of life's most difficult experiences.
There are two levels of our Divorce Recovery program: Recovery and Rebuilding. They have different purposes and compliment each other when taken as a whole. The Rebuilding program builds on the Recovery program. Participants must enter a given level of the program no later than at week two. After that, they must wait until the next group begins. Our program features a broach range of ages and divorce experiences. Some participants have been divorced for a number of years, while others may have just recently separated.
Divorce Recovery is led by people who understand what you are going through (at least to some degree) because they have "been there." Leaders of the program are good people who have already been through the program. They want to help you get back on solid ground, giving you guidance that will help you heal the pain of the past and look forward to rebuilding your life. Don't go through separation or divorce alone.
Childcare: We are happy to provide childcare for infants through 5th grade at no additional charge. Please know this is not a children of divorce program. Children ages birth - 2 years will be in childcare. Children ages 3 years through 5th grade will participate in regularly scheduled Wednesday night children's activities. Youth age children are welcome to participate in our Wednesday night youth activities. If you decide to use our childcare, you must be here by 6 pm. For their own safety, children will not be released to anyone but the parent participating in the Divorce Recovery programs.
Wednesday Fellowship Meal: We begin serving at 5 pm and stop serving at 6:15 pm. We prepare and serve the meal cafeteria-style and the menu varies each week and includes a meat, vegetable, bread, drink and dessert. Cost for the meal is $6/person with a $20 family maximum. A Kid's Meal is available for Kindergarten - 5th grade for $3/child. Please RSVP no later than Monday at 12 noon prior to the Wednesday meal. Cancellations are due Tuesday at 12 noon each week.
Cancellations: It is our policy to cancel Wednesday evening activities if the public school system is closed because of severe weather conditions. Cancellation notices will be listed on the home page of the FBC website and also on the local TV cancellations. Weeks missed due to weather will be made up at the end of the session.

The nine-session program is designed for adults who are coping with divorce or separation. Participants have wide-ranging religious, socio-economic, and ethnic backgrounds. The program focuses on situations or problems common to most divorced people and seeks to explore and develop positive coping skills to enable participants to grow through divorce. Sessions are divided into a large group setting with a video presentation or speaker and smaller groups, each with a facilitator. Weekly handouts and a companion book, Growing Through Divorce, by Jim Smoke, round out the program.
Rebuilding is designed as a step-by-step guide to getting oneself in a position to enjoy life that comes after divorce. This is a 12-14 week program and follows participation in the Recovery program. Each session is based on a chapter in Dr. Bruce Fisher and Dr. Robert Alberti's book, Rebuilding - When Your Relationship Ends. The program is discussion based.
